The annual spring tumbleweed storm. This one even topped last year's.
Luckily I was home during the storm and was able to deflect most of the tumbleweeds away from our house to a convenient location in front of my neighbor's garage.
The really good news is that President Obama declared Eagle Mountain a Federal disaster area. He allocated one trillion dollars toward the cleanup efforts. We never would have gotten that kind of love from McCain.
After the wind died down, Easton and Sandy decided to dig a huge hole in the back yard.

When backfilling the hole was the serpent slain? Just wondering if you were doing it right....
Those tumbleweeds are insane!!! I was complaining about ONE that lingers in our yard no matter how many times I put it in the neighbors...
It wasn't until we enlarged the picture that we noted the popsicle sticks and other paraphernalia "borrowed" from Grandpa. Those sticks don't leave his side do they?
OH MY GOODness Charisse!!! Where on earth do you live??? Those tumbleweeds are crazy! I have never seen anything like that in my entire life, how exciting! Do you try and leave and open the front door to find you are trapped? How crazy! If you go outside during it, will you get run over by weeds? Huh!!! I love it, how wild!
love you!
Was Eagle Mountain seriously declared a disaster area by the president?? Wow. Who knew DC cared about the growing communities in Utah. That's cool, though (that they're trying to clean it up, not that it's a disaster area). Those tumbleweeds are unreal!
I can't believe that. Mike and I laughed pretty good. I never knew there was that many tumble weeds.
Did Easton really dig that hole with PVC pipe and popsicles sticks?
That is so great! Glad you got it on film! Little Easton is not looking so little any more! How are you feeling? When is your baby due?
crazy!
Do you have a bonfire night to burn them all up?
After last weekend-coming from Eagle Mountain into Orem-I decided I could make a business bronzing tumbleweeds and selling them as hood ornaments to all the people of Eagle Mtn.! It was outrageous driving with an ocean of tumbleweeds raging across the highway in front of my car.
Oh yeah! Last comment was from Grandma Connie!
I really think Easton and Sandy did a great job on the hole...it looks like they make a great team. If Easton would like to upgrade from pvc pipe and popsicles to dig with, there should be a small shovel he can use...I think "little Rafe" might have finally outgrown it.
