My darling friend Holly N. tagged me for this love bird tag. I meant to post this on Valentine's Day but did not have the chance. So, here it goes:
1. Where did you and your husband meet?
I was living in Provo with a few of my friends the summer before my senior year at USU. Dare say the most fantastic summer of my life. One day our friend brought Clint over to hang out with us. We played Catch Phrase and one of the words was male-pattern baldness. I pointed to Clint's balding head and apparently Clint must have liked this because the next time I saw him he got my phone number. Well, as the story goes- Clint claims he called me and because I did not answer the phone (I was at work mind you) that was my one shot at a date with him. (He didn't even leave a voicemail so how was I to know he even called.) The summer drew to a close and Clint started dating another girl. However, we both went back up to USU in the fall once school started.
2. First thing you said to each other?
I asked him if he always wore a hat because he had a hat on.
3. What was your first date?
Clint and all his roomates had planned a big group date. We went to the Bluebird restaurant for dinner followed by some rollerblading at the local skate rink. I really enjoy rollerblading and so I went around and around the rink, rarely stopping for anything or anyone. It's amazing Clint asked me out again after my marathon rollerblading.
4. Where was our first kiss?
After 25 dates (I am not exaggerating) Clint kissed me goodbye the night before he left for law school. In my mind I was thinking, he waits until the night before he is moving 11 hours away to kiss me?
5. Long or short courtship/engagement?
We were friends for about a year before we started dating. We dated throughout the summer after we graduated from USU and then started exclusively dating while Clint was at law school. It was a long distance relationship and engagement. We were engaged in April of 2003, and were married on August 9th, 2003.
6. Where did you get engaged?
I was working at Nordstrom at the time and had just gotten off work and went to my car. Inside were a dozen roses and a poem. I thought Clint's brother, Thad, had dropped them off for Clint because to my knowledge Clint was still up at law school. I decided I would wait until I was home to read the poem so I started driving out of the parking lot. As I was driving away I saw Clint standing on the side of the road. I could not believe my eyes. I stopped my car right in the middle of the road and got out. Clint came over, got down on his knee and proposed. I was overcome with suprise and excitement. Apparently I was supposed to read the poem before I drove off because it humorously outlined from the first time we met to the end when Clint said all that he wanted was to be married to me. I had foiled the plans by not reading the poem before driving off so Clint had to quickly chase me down while I was speeding out of the parking lot. Luckily he caught me before I drove off.
7. Where were you married? I had always wanted to get married in the Manti LDS Temple ever since I was a little girl. My parents were married there and I had been the in the Manti Pageant as a young girl. Even though the Manti Temple is a bit out of the way, all of our friends and family so graciously made the drive to be a part of our day. My great uncle Paul Dyreng married us in the temple. Afterwards we had a luncheon at the Horseshoe Mountain Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant and then headed back up to Utah County for our wedding reception at the Alpine Arts Center.
8. Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Clint whisked me off to magical........Denver! We went shopping, to Six Flags, the temple and of course The Cheesecake Factory. I tag: Holly Hutchings, Emily Walker, Heidi Budge, Colleen Fluckiger and Natilie Thompson.
