Halloween at Disneyland

Several months ago we booked a trip to Disneyland for Halloween weekend.

Prior to leaving for California we attended the kids' school costume parade.

Easton as Optimus Prime.

Miss Marielle as Elsa.  The most popular costume this Halloween by far.

We spent 4 days at Disneyland.  We had the opportunity to attend Mickey's Halloween party on Halloween Day, the first day of our trip.  I have to say it was so much fun and we loved it!

The kids enjoyed playing with the water ball.  Clint said next time we will just take the kids to a park and save a great deal of money.

Throughout the park there were several trick-or-treat trails set up.  At each trail 4 or 5 stations would hand out a large handful of candy and snacks.  This trail was set up in the Horseshoe Review.

The Haunted Mansion was decorated in the Nightmare Before Christmas theme.  Disney spares no expense and notices every detail.  It was just like the movie.  Marielle was quite nervous when the floor moved down at the beginning inside the mansion and insisted on being carried and wanted to leave until we got into the carts.

We managed to meet a couple characters toward the end of the evening.  If there is a line to see a character I don't have the patience to wait and see them.  Luckily there was no line for theses guys so Easton and Marielle went right to them.

The picture below makes me laugh.  At this point it was about 11:00 pm and Adriana was still happy and going strong.  She was about the only one though, the rest of us were quite tired.

Easton and Marielle really enjoyed Space Mountain which is turned into Ghost Galaxy for Halloween.  They add scary ghost sounds and images of an unpleasant looking ghost figure during the ride.

Esme on the other hand was fast asleep.  You can't really tell from the photo below but she was out for the count in the stroller.  Marielle is sucking her thumb which is indicative of a very tired girl.  However, look at that cute little baby girl- happy as can be.

When we returned home from our trip we weighed all of the candy we received and it was 18 pounds- and that was after we had been snacking on it all week.

In addition to the candy we received we got this bounty of delicious snacks which were great to take with us each day throughout the remainder of our trip.

Easton doing a little sorting of the items.

We had such a fun time!  The lines for rides were not that long and we loved all the trick-or-treating.

I did make Clint take the candy to be used at his seminary class throughout the year. Eighteen pounds is a little much for us to be eating, although Easton would disagree.

Funny Kids

Easton loves to do bunny fingers in every picture he's in.
Several weeks ago Marielle had color days at school where everyday she dressed in a certain color.

Yellow day.

One can never have too many rocks.

Green day.

These girls love to play in the Tupperware.

School Time Fun

Marielle received an assignment for school to decorate a turkey feather with something our family is grateful for.  When I asked her what she was grateful for she replied, "the gospel, Jesus and our family."  She was very insistent that we put a picture of Jesus on the feather as well as a picture of our family.  I love that she wanted a picture of Christ to decorate her feather with. Plus lots of glitter flowers and a heart.

For Halloween Easton received an assignment to construct a haunted house which he then had to write a story about in school.

This is his I'm-trying-not-to-blink look.

He did a great job of designing his haunted house and decorating it- with a little help from mom.

Marielle's class had a teddy bear picnic a while ago.  The students had completed various teddy bear projects and invited all the families to see what they had been working on.

We enjoyed eating snacks with our teddy bears and spending time with Marielle at school.
